Fully Washed is essentially the same as the washed process, emphasizing the thoroughness of the washing stage. After pulping and fermentation, the beans are vigorously washed to ensure all mucilage is removed before drying. This process is known for producing very clean, bright flavors with high acidity and clarity. Fully washed coffees often exhibit crisp, vibrant taste profiles with distinct origin characteristics. The method is popular in regions known for high-quality arabica production, such as Kenya and parts of Central America. It requires significant water usage and careful control of fermentation times but results in highly consistent flavor profiles, making it a preferred method for many specialty coffee producers.
